12.10// Central and Eastern Champ

  Hey guys and girls!

This race was the Central and Eastern champs, which means double points and a title up for grabs!

I arrived at Astonhill pretty late on saturday and very tired! Mainly due to the ferry arriving in Dover at 9am, after driving through the night from the French alps! The weather was hot and the track super dusty, i did a couple of runs to get the feel of the track and knew that the track was going to be loose and on the edge.

Race day arrived, and the track was starting to get blown out. Chilled out in practice and just rolled down the hill a couple of times, trying to get one particularly tricky left hander dialled in. I took it steady my first run and made a little mistake in the new switchbacks, costing me a bit of time. I was surprised to see that my run was quick enough for 1st in junior!

Second runs, and the track was running a little quicker, i got a little excited at the top, and ended making another mistake, costing me a little bit of time, but carried on the rest of the run, and it all went good from then on down! Came down a second quicker, enough to claim the win by a good margin!

I would like to thank mainly my dad for driving me from the alps to the race venue then sticking around all weekend! And the astonhill crew who managed to gather an amazing amount of prizes.

big props to Phil who shredded all weekend and also won his category!

until next weekend, Sam
