12.09// Pearce cycles final round

BUCKNELL, Nr. Craven Arms, Shropshire
Sunday 6th September 2009

Sunday morning, the crack of dawn and we were rudely awoken by screams and shouts, "Barel's in the hot seat"... From the top field we're receiving live commentary. Chris Derry and Co were receiving live updates courtesy of their mate sat at home on the net and a mobile phone. "PEATY'S WON, PEATY'S WON, PEATY'S WON". No better start to the day than that, every Down Hill Mountain Biker, no matter what nationality will know where they were the moment that headline went off.

So there was our alarm clock, with a start to the day like that, everybody was smiles all round and you knew no matter what happened in your race, today was going to be a good one.

Sam had been as on it as Peaty this weekend and the results of his hard work this summer are here for all to see! Another crushing win for Sam in Youth on the day.

17.03// ASTON HILL SUCCESS

Sunday Saw the first race on the new Aston Hill Swiss+Swallow Black Run. Nearly 200 riders signed up to race on the day. And what a day! with blue sky and brilliant spring sun made for a perfect backdrop for the race.

We've put together a short clip there will be a better and longer version soon.

Judging by the feedback both yesterday and today everyone without exception, spectators and riders, had a good time, except for the one poor guy who ended up in A&E (get well soon buddy). On that note though consider this. We had nearly 200 riders turn up, all doing at least two practise runs and two race runs.

About 800 runs and only one A&E worthy crash. Good stats in my book.

It was great to see such a wide range of riders from novices of all ages, juniors, National riders, many travelling along way to race. The RYDE racing team, all the way from France dispelled the myth of local rider knowledge being an unfair advantage by taking 3 podium places after only having visited the new Black run on Saturday!!

Words by Ben at Aston Hill.

race results by mikrotime are here...http://www.mikrotime.com/mtb/ast2009/ast0901.html

Well done and a big thanks to everyone who helped to make the event a huge success!
